The Sincere Brand
Clever lies are no longer clever. Every claim can be verified. Every promise questioned. Every misstep amplified. In this new reality, sincerity isn't just a virtue—it is a competitive advantage and the foundation of modern brand strategy.
If loopholes excite you, we are probably not a fit.

About
I've spent over 22 years helping brands navigate change from the inside of some of the world's leading advertising networks — trained in Disruption™ at TBWA\Anthem, shaped brands like Huggies and Pond's at Ogilvy, Garnier and Sanofi at Publicis, and led strategy at Saatchi & Saatchi, Sri Lanka.
Along the way, I completed a programme in Digital Marketing Strategy at Columbia Business School and wrote Building Brands in a Suddenly Changed World to understand a question that increasingly occupied my mind: why were so many proven branding principles no longer producing the same results?
The answer was simple. Customers have outgrown yesterday's brand strategies. They demand sincerity above all else. Good brands today survive scrutiny. Great brands invite it. I designed The Sincere Brand for businesses that want to build those kinds of brands.
The Framework
"A great brand today is not simply recognised. It is not simply remembered. It is not even simply loved. It is believed."
01
In the past, a compelling story could carry a weak proposition. Today, every claim is tested by reviews, recommendations, experiences, and results. Storytelling amplifies substance—it no longer compensates for its absence.
02
For decades, marketers competed to interrupt audiences. Today, the winners create products, experiences, and ideas that people choose to pay attention to. The objective is no longer to seize attention but to deserve it.
03
The internet gave customers something marketers never wanted them to have: receipts. Every claim can be checked, every experience shared, and every inconsistency exposed. Today's most trusted brands don't pretend to be flawless—they demonstrate accountability in public. They explain their decisions, acknowledge criticism, and show how they improve.
04
The strongest brands today don't manufacture a reason-for-being once they've found commercial success—they build commercial success because they started with a reason-for-being.
Canva is one of my fav. examples. Founder Melanie Perkins didn't set out to build one of the most successful software companies. She set out to make design accessible to everyone.
That's the difference between purpose as a branding exercise and purpose as a founding conviction.
I exist to partner with companies whose purpose is the reason their business exists in the first place - not something they bolt on to the brand at a later stage, if budgets permit.
05
Purchase is no longer restricted by time, place or situation. Customers encounter brands everywhere—and every encounter is a potential point of purchase. Every last interaction with the brand makes or erodes it. There are no neutral touch points. A delayed response, a confusing interface, a thoughtful gesture or a nostalgic sound-effect all are equally valuable. Identifying and leveraging every possible touch-point is non-negotiable here at The Sincere Brand.
06
Even when deadlines are tight, a majority of time is invested in understanding the problem, asking the questions others rush past and defining success.
Twenty-two years in the industry has taught me one thing: the rush to deliver before understanding is the enemy of effective and inspiring output.
Most mediocre work doesn't begin with a bad idea. It begins with an unclear brief.
07
Everyone has access to the same reports, the same trends and the same industry data. Unsurprisingly, many brands end up making the same predictable choices.
What separates the brands that stand out is nuance—the deeper understanding of human motivations that data alone cannot reveal.
That understanding comes from genuine one-on-one conversations. Over the years, I have seen countless examples where qualitative research uncovered the insight that transformed the strategy.
08
Reading culture is instinct, not just research. It is the ability to stay tuned in—not only to dominant narratives, but also to emerging ones quietly taking shape.
The real skill lies in recognising the common thread that runs through fleeting trends and separating meaningful shifts from passing noise.
A finger on the pulse of culture helps brands stay relevant today while anticipating what matters tomorrow.
09
An insight describes a truth. A tension reveals an opportunity.
A rainbow makes people smile. That's an insight. A rainbow that appears when nobody is there to see it reveals a tension—the existence of beauty without the ability to experience it.
The role of brand strategy is not simply to identify feelings. It is to uncover the unresolved tensions behind them.
Loved brands don't just understand emotions. They solve tensions.
How We Work
01
Every successful engagement begins with aligning on what truly matters.
Together, we explore your ambitions, business challenges, success metrics and the problem that needs solving. We also uncover your origin story—the intent behind why your company exists and the role it seeks to play in people's lives.
Before moving forward, we ensure there is complete clarity on the brief. More importantly, only once we're aligned on the importance of building sincerity capital for your brand do we move to the next phase.
→ Deliverable: Aligned Strategic Brief
02
Good strategy is built on evidence, not assumptions.
I immerse myself in the world your brand operates in through qualitative consumer research, competitive analysis, culture-watch, category dynamics and social media behaviours. The objective is to uncover the tensions, motivations and opportunities that will shape the strategic direction of your sincere brand.
→ Deliverable: Research Synthesis
03
Strategy is not created in isolation—it is discovered collectively.
Through a facilitated workshop with key stakeholders, we identify the beliefs, strengths, behaviours and truths that make your brand genuinely credible. This collaborative process uncovers the elements that build your brand's sincerity capital and distinguishes it from competitors.
→ Deliverable: Brand Essence Statement
04
The final outcome is a strategic blueprint that becomes the lighthouse for every communications decision going forward.
Your customised playbook articulates your brand's sincerity essence, strategic direction and guiding principles, creating a unified foundation that ensures your brand's sincerity is expressed seamlessly across advertising, PR, packaging, product experience, social media, employee engagement and every customer touchpoint.
Deliverables:
Proof, Not Promises
I've helped several founders over the past 4 years as an independent consultant, before I ever called it The Sincere Brand. It was only a few months ago, when I decided to apply my own brand strategy principles to my own brand of brand strategy, that I realised how my acute sense of the evolving consumer translates into my thought process as a strategist. I found myself helping clients arrive at their sincerity articulation — though not every client was equipped to claim sincerity. Some were.
Case 01
A K-12 school where children prepare themselves for a rapidly changing, unpredictable world. It was founded on a question that needed to be revisited: "Why should a child go to school?"
The Challenge
Making parents rethink everything they understood the role of a good school to be — in keeping with evolving realities.
The Resolve
Addressing a parent reality we identified: the belief that if their child was falling back in school, it was the child's limitation — simply because the kid had been sent to one of the "best" schools.
The Sincerity Essence
For every child to thrive.
Case 02
A Kerala-based nutraceutical company that wanted to extend the trust earned through their pharma business to the end-consumer, as they ventured into an OTC joint and cartilage health supplement called Chaligen Plus.
The Challenge
The market is crowded with brands that look and say the same things.
The Resolve
To rise above problem-solution narratives towards a movement-benefit narrative.
The Sincerity Essence
A movement to keep moving.
Case 03
A B2B SaaS company that serves EV battery-designing companies with greater efficiencies, founded with a passion inspired by the greatest engineering innovators the world has seen.
The Challenge
To nudge a change in the way EV battery engineering companies had worked so far.
The Resolve
Shift the lens from better outcomes to creating room for more innovations — showing them the macro picture of what improved efficiency does.
The Sincerity Essence
Simplified, unrestricted, sustainable engineering to unleash imagination for a better future.
Case 04
Yours truly, with a unique profile — equally well conversant with traditional brand strategy, social media communications, and the nuances of changing times. She is also a close observer of successful modern brands founded in the last decade.
The Challenge
Young companies born to cater to the unmet demands of evolving consumers have no access to professional brand strategy expertise. Traditional brand strategy textbooks were not written for brands serving an interactive audience.
The Resolve
A new textbook — a brand strategy process for companies that offer advanced accountability to customers.
The Sincerity Essence
Brand strategy for companies with honesty of intent.
Questions, Answered
The Sincere Brand is a brand strategy philosophy and methodology for brands catering to the empowered customer of today. Good brands today survive scrutiny. Great brands invite it. Brand building is no longer about creating a compelling image. It's about building sincerity credentials.
I help businesses uncover their genuine intent, articulate it simply, and express it consistently across every decision and every customer touchpoint.
Earlier, brands knew more than consumers, who were passive audiences. Today:
This is making people appreciate actual substance amid all the marketing mayhem they're subjected to — which is exactly why sincerity is no longer a bonus virtue. It forms the core of successful brands.
Most importantly, how a brand responds to criticism and being questioned. The Sincere Brand helps brands stay on track in those moments.
Companies with sincerity of intent — towards customers, their workforce, and the environment/society. The Sincere Brand does not help businesses looking to fake sincerity.
No. Authenticity is about honesty. Sincerity is about honesty of intent — towards your customers, your workforce, and the environment/society. Authenticity helps people see who you are. Sincerity gives them a reason to trust you and stay with you.
Yes. They need to begin with a willingness to make necessary changes in the way they run their business and in their product/service.
Yes. I bring in strategic guidance on how to build sincerity capital. It has an impact not just on advertising and social media, but also on packaging, corporate communications, employee engagement, and public relations.
A great product is sincerity. The Sincere Brand strategy helps make that sincerity of intent visible to customers — helping them identify you as a brand they can safely rely on.
More so than anything else. Your B2B customer — the decision makers — need to justify their choice not just to themselves, but to entire organizations. The Sincere Brand strategy helps B2B brands give their customers that level of conviction.
While every engagement is unique, they all begin with a focused strategic diagnostic — a one-week engagement I call the "Sincere Brand Spark." This costs ₹35,000.
Following the Sincere Brand Spark, if you want to take things forward with me, you'll receive a customised proposal with the scope, timelines, and investment. The total investment typically ranges from ₹2.35 lakhs to ₹5.35 lakhs.
The Sincere Brand Spark, my focused strategic diagnostic, is typically completed within a week, providing you with initial recommendations and a clear direction forward. Full Sincere Brand engagements — which include research, stakeholder alignment, and strategy development — typically take around three months.
Yes. The Sincere Brand Spark serves this purpose. This one-week engagement includes an in-depth strategy session, an independent assessment, and clear recommendations on the best path forward. Many businesses find the Sincere Brand Spark valuable as a standalone engagement. Others use it as the starting point for a full Sincere Brand engagement if they decide to move forward.
I offer strategic advice on how to help your customers identify you as a brand they feel safe to trust and advocate for.
